FC Lorient, founded in 1926, play at the Stade du Moustoir in Brittany. Les Merlus — the hake — carry their link to the port city in the nickname itself.
Lorient won the French Cup in 2002 and have since moved between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, usually with a squad built on cohesion rather than budget.
The Stade du Moustoir sits in the middle of the town. On matchdays the Breton support turns it into a very loud place.
