SS Lazio, founded in 1900, are not only one of Italy's oldest clubs but also one with a fervent following. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome is their home, and on matchdays the atmosphere is thick enough to cut.
The Aquila — the eagle — is known for its blue and white colours, and the club has produced some outstanding players, among them the legends Alessandro Nesta and Paolo Di Canio. One curiosity: Lazio share the ground with their rivals AS Roma, which produces the fiercest of derbies — a Roman clash of the titans.
Lazio's fans, the Laziali, are known for unconditional support. That makes the matches against Roma a spectacle not to be missed. At Lazio the game is not merely played; it is celebrated.
